The government is looking to give incentives to those who have completed vaccination and allow visits to nursing homes during the upcoming Chuseok Thanksgiving holiday.
This comes as the government is set to announce on Friday new social distancing guidelines effective Monday, including quarantine measures for the holiday period.
Senior Health Ministry official Son Young-rae said on Thursday that permitting family visits to nursing homes was being reviewed much like last year and ahead of Lunar New Year earlier this year.
Son, however, said no decision has yet been made when asked about extending the existing gathering bans during the holiday or exempting those fully vaccinated.
An advisory panel reportedly discussed allowing up to four people that are fully vaccinated to gather past 6 p.m. in all multi-use facilities while extending Level Four in the capital region and Level Three in other areas for another month.
