The government is looking to enforce social distancing guidelines on a monthly basis from next week, rather than by the previous two- to three-week interval.

Senior Health Ministry official Son Young-rae said on Tuesday that details of the time period for new levels set to take effect on Monday will be determined on Friday.

The official said the upcoming distancing adjustment will likely cover a one-month period, in consideration of the Chuseok holiday in mid-September.

The government will also announce special quarantine measures during the Thanksgiving holiday on Friday, with a review on allowing family visits under way.

Currently, Level Four restrictions are in place for the Seoul metropolitan area and several cities, with other regions are under Level Three protocols.
