Heavy rain of up to 300 millimeters is forecast in many parts of the country throughout this week.

The Korea Meteorological Administration(KMA) said Monday that over 100 millimeters overall, or more than 50 millimeters per hour, are expected across the country from Tuesday to Friday due to effects of a low pressure system.

Tuesday and Wednesday will bring downpours mainly in Chungcheong, North Jeolla and North Gyeongsang provinces.

Thursday will see nationwide precipitation, while heavy rain is expected through Friday in eastern Gangwon and North Gyeongsang Province as well as the southern parts of the country.

Morning lows will range from 18 to 25 degrees Celsius and afternoon highs from 22 to 31 degrees this week.

Despite the rain and cooler temperatures, the KMA said that summer is likely to persist for a little longer as the North Pacific high pressure front has yet to move southward.
