More than 55 percent of the South Korean population have received at least the first COVID-19 vaccine shot since the nation launched the nationwide vaccination program in late February.

According to the state vaccine task force on Sunday, more than 273-thousand people received their first dose on Saturday alone.

So far, 28-point-62 million people, or 55-point-seven percent of the population, have received their first shot.

Of the partly vaccinated people, more than 14 million people were administered with the Pfizer vaccine, while some eleven million, and two-point-three million people received the AstraZeneca and Moderna vaccines, respectively.

Fourteen-point-six million people, or 28-point-four percent of the population, have been fully vaccinated.
