The second and final group of 13 evacuees fleeing Afghanistan have arrived in South Korea via a military transport aircraft.
The families - whose members had worked for the South Korean Embassy and other facilities in Afghanistan - landed at Incheon International Airport at around 1 p.m. on Friday.
With the latest arrival, the government's mission to evacuate 390 Afghans to South Korea is complete, including 377 that arrived on Thursday. The civilians had requested to be moved from Afghanistan after the Taliban reclaimed power.
One person had been sent back to Kabul to U.S. forces after being identified as not being on the government's list during a final identity check at Islamabad, Pakistan.
After testing negative for COVID-19, the 13 people will join the first group at a state living facility in Jincheon, North Chungcheong Province, where they will receive assistance on adapting to life in South Korea in the coming weeks.
