South Korea reported another daily COVID-19 tally in the 18-hundreds on Friday.
The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency(KDCA) said one-thousand-841 new cases were diagnosed throughout Thursday, bringing the accumulated caseload to 245-thousand-158.
The number is 41 fewer cases than Thursday and 208 fewer than a week earlier. Of the new cases, one-thousand-811 were local transmissions while 30 were from overseas.
There have now been more than one-thousand new cases for the 52nd consecutive day, with an average of one-thousand-758 cases reported daily in the past week.
By region, the Seoul metropolitan area accounted for one-thousand-194 local cases, or 65-point-nine percent, including 552 in the capital city and 546 in Gyeonggi Province. Non-capital regions added 617 cases, including 89 in Daegu and 73 in South Gyeongsang Province.
Eight more deaths have been reported, raising the death toll to two-thousand-265. The number of critically ill patients rose by two from the previous day to 427.
