Two more members of a committee involving the military, government and civilian experts tasked with reforming military culture resigned on Thursday in protest of the Defense Ministry's attitude.
Lim Tae-hoon, the director of the Center for Military Human Rights Korea, wrote on social media that lawyer Ha Joo-hee and Kim Hye-jung, the director of Korea Sexual Violence Relief Center, are the latest to leave the panel, bringing the total to 14 people who have stepped down so far.
Lim and five others resigned on Wednesday, accusing the ministry of lacking the resolve for reform.
Lim expressed disappointment towards co-chair Pak Un-jung for criticizing the resigned members, rather than taking time for self-examination. Lim then urged Pak and co-chair Defense Minister Suh Wook to take responsibility.
The panel was established to draw up systematic military reforms following the apparent suicide of an Air Force noncommissioned officer(NCO), after she alleged that a senior colleague assaulted her.
Last week, four members left following news of the apparent suicide of a Navy NCO amid similar allegations, and another two in protest of the ministry's false parliamentary report about abolishing the military court.
