COVID-19 vaccinations for all adults under 50 will begin on Thursday.

According to the state vaccine task force on Thursday, those aged 18 to 49 will receive their first shots at designated or entrusted medical institutions and clinics across the country from that day.

With either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine set to be administered, those receiving shots this week are scheduled to receive the Pfizer vaccine.

The government is encouraging the age group to be inoculated to achieve its goal of having 70 percent of the public receive first doses before the Chuseok holiday, which begins on September 19, and second shots by the end of October.

With less than 67 percent of the group currently scheduled for appointments as of Wednesday, more reservations have opened up after a boost in the Moderna vaccine supply. Those who have an appointment set for after Chuseok or have yet to make an appointment can do so through September 2 to get a reservation before the holiday.

Meanwhile, those with developmental disabilities or disabilities related to the heart or liver will also begin vaccinations on Thursday along with employees at disabilities rehabilitation facilities.
