The number of registered eco-friendly vehicles in the country has surpassed one million for the first time, reflecting a growing public interest in hydrogen-powered and electric vehicles.

According to the Transport Ministry on Wednesday, one-point-004 million eco-friendly vehicles were registered as of the end of July, taking up four-point-one percent of overall registered vehicles in South Korea.

Hybrid cars took up 80-point-four percent of all eco-friendly vehicles, followed by electric cars at 18 percent, then hydrogen-powered cars at one-point-six percent.

Hyundai Motor had the largest market share at 44-point-six percent, followed by Kia Motors with 20-point-three percent, and Tesla with 14-point-eight percent.
