Korea University said on Tuesday that it has set up a committee to review the possibility of revoking the admission of the daughter of former Justice Minister Cho Kuk amid allegations of admissions fraud.
The move came hours after Pusan National University(PNU) announced its decision to void her admission to its medical school.
According to Korea University rules, the admission of incumbent students or graduates can be revoked if any illegal act was found to have been committed in the admission process.
The minister’s daughter, Cho Min, acquired a bachelor degree in environmental science and ecological engineering at the Seoul-based university before enrolling PNU School of Medicine.
Earlier this month, a Seoul appellate court upheld a four-year prison sentence for the ex-minister’s wife, Chung Kyung-shim, who was indicted on a series of corruption charges, including charges of academic fraud related to her daughter's college admission.
