A recent study found online transactions on the country's leading portal Naver, e-commerce giant Coupang and other such apps increased by a significant margin during the first half of this year.
According to app and retail analytics firm Wiseapp/Retail/Goods, domestic online service transactions on Naver stood at 17-point-75 trillion won from January to June, up 40-point-five percent from a year earlier. This includes money paid through its smart store, webtoon, music, advertising and Naver Pay services.
Transactions on Coupang and Coupang Eats food delivery app stood at 16-point-12 trillion won, expanding 60-point-six percent on-year.
The country's top food delivery service provider Baedal Minjok, operated by Woowa Brothers, saw its transactions nearly double to eight-point-56 trillion won.
eBay Korea's online transactions, including those of Gmarket and Auction, on the other hand, only rose point-two percent on-year to total eight-point-83 trillion won.
