Pusan National University(PNU) has decided to rescind the acceptance to its medical school of the daughter of former Justice Minister Cho Kuk following allegations of admissions fraud.

Announcing the outcome of its own investigation on Tuesday, the university said it also took into consideration the recent appellate court ruling against Cho's wife and opinions from affiliated departments.

The university cited its guidelines, which state that anyone who submits false documents will be disqualified from admission.

As for not waiting until the Supreme Court ruling, it said taking administrative action now versus after the final ruling does not go against the principle of the presumption of innocence.

Following the decision, there is a greater chance that the daughter's medical license will be revoked, as under law only those who have graduated from a medical school are eligible to apply.
