Daily COVID-19 infections fell below one-thousand-500 for the first time in six days.
The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency said on Monday that one-thousand-418 cases were detected the previous day, raising the country's accumulated caseload to 237-thousand-782.
The dip is likely due to fewer tests during the weekend with the number of infections usually falling at the beginning of a week, but rising from mid-week. The daily total is also down 137 from a week ago.
Of the new infections, one-thousand-370 were local transmissions while 48 were from overseas.
By region, the Seoul metropolitan area accounted for 847 local cases, or 61-point-eight percent of the total.
Non-capital regions added 523 cases, including 65 in South Chungcheong Province and 63 in Busan, taking up 38-point-two percent of domestic cases.
Seven more deaths have been confirmed, raising the death toll to two-thousand-222. The fatality rate stands at zero-point-93 percent.
The number of critically ill patients rose by four from the previous day to 399.
