South Korea reported one-thousand-628 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, the 47th consecutive day the figure has stayed above one-thousand.
The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency said Sunday that the new infections detected throughout Saturday raised the country's accumulated caseload to 236-thousand-366.
The daily figure dropped by about 250 from the previous day to fall to the 16-hundreds, apparently due to fewer tests over the weekend.
Of the new cases, one-thousand-590 were local transmissions and 38 were from overseas.
By region, the capital area accounted for 67-point-three percent of all local transmissions, reporting one-thousand-70 cases. The figure remained above one-thousand for the fifth consecutive day.
Non-capital regions added 520 cases, taking up 32-point-seven percent of local cases.
Thirteen more deaths have been confirmed, raising the death toll to two-thousand-215. The fatality rate stands at zero-point-94 percent.
The number of critically ill patients dropped by eight from the previous day to 395.
