Half of South Korea's population has received at least one shot of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The government's vaccination task force said that the milestone was reached as of 11 a.m. Saturday, with 25-point-69 million people receiving their shots so far.

This comes 176 days after the country began its vaccination program.

About eleven-point-five million people, or 22-point-four percent of the population, have been fully vaccinated so far.

An official from the government task force said that South Korea is on track to reach the goal of inoculating 70-percent of the entire population with at least their first shot of the vaccine before the Chuseok holiday in mid-September.
