The South Korean government is gearing up to announce adjustments to social distancing levels effective on Monday.

Senior Health Ministry official Son Young-rae said on Wednesday that authorities are analyzing latest developments and gathering consensus with the aim of announcing new measures on Friday.

The official said authorities will take into account the continued spread of the delta variant amid vaccinations efforts.

As of 12:00 a.m. Wednesday, one-thousand-805 additional people tested positive over the previous 24 hours. The daily total climbed back above one-thousand-800 following the holiday weekend.

There is growing speculation that the government will further extend the highest Level Four in the capital region that was first enforced on July 12. Level Three has been in place outside the capital area for the fourth straight week.
