The government estimates that the number of children from multicultural families attending elementary , middle or high schools has surged nearly 67 percent over four years to top 140-thousand.

According to the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and the Education Ministry on Wednesday, some 147-thousand children from multicultural families were of scholastic ages as of 2020, up 66-point-nine percent from 2016.

The government also found that such students accounted for two-point-eight percent of all elementary, middle and high school students in the nation last year, up from the one-point-seven percent in 2016.

The data shows that the number of students from multicultural families surged in line with a steady rise in the overall number of multicultural families in the country.
