Asiana Airlines’ sales grew 14 percent in the second quarter from a year earlier largely due to strong cargo demand amid the protracted pandemic.

The nation’s second largest airliner said in a statement on Tuesday that its sales in the April to June period stood at 933-point-five billion won, compared with 818-point-six billion won in the same quarter a year earlier.

Cargo sales led its quarterly growth, which jumped 11 percent on-year to 708-point-two billion won, a record second-quarter figure for the firm.

The company’s quarterly operating profit, however, declined 17-point-five percent to 94-point-nine billion won due to a rising fuel costs.
