President Moon Jae-in said on Sunday that South Korea will complete COVID-19 vaccinations for 70 percent of the population by October.

The president made the remark in his televised speech marking the 76th anniversary of Korea's liberation from Japan's colonial rule.

Moon said that by October, 70 percent of all South Koreans will have received their second vaccine dose, adding the nation is reaching its vaccination goal.

Amid the fourth wave of the virus due to the delta variant, the president vowed to overcome the coronavirus crisis, create jobs and achieve an inclusive economic recovery.
