Starting Friday, people aged 30 to 49 can claim leftover AstraZeneca vaccine doses.

The state vaccine task force announced that it lowered the minimum age limit for the shots from 50 to 30 from Friday, after it had been raised over concerns of blood clots in younger adults.

However, this only applies to leftover or no-show vaccine appointments, which can be made for those on preliminary vaccination lists or through Naver or KakaoTalk. App reservations will begin Tuesday.

Additionally, people aged 50 and younger who received AstraZeneca for their first shot can now choose whether they wish to continue with Pfizer for their second shot as planned, or return to AstraZeneca.

The latest decision comes as AstraZeneca doses are being discarded from canceled appointments.
