Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum said on Friday that 400-thousand doses of Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine donated by the United States will arrive in South Korea this weekend.

The prime minister made the remarks during a government meeting in Seoul, expressing gratitude to Washington for sending another round of vaccines after the June shipment.

Kim asked the public to trust the government and actively participate in vaccine reservations and inoculation.

He expressed concerns about the continued surge in COVID-19 cases despite enhanced social distancing curbs.

Kim said the government will issue a statement to the nation on Friday to call for cooperation in quarantine efforts ahead of the Liberation Day holiday.
