Police reiterated a warnings, vowing stern action against those who push ahead with anti-government rallies during the upcoming Liberation Day weekend in violation of quarantine regulations.

The National Police Agency(NPA) said on Thursday that it plans to mobilize maximum resources to proactively obstruct mass gatherings.

Should groups gather for a rally, the police, in cooperation with health authorities, will disperse the crowds in accordance with relevant laws, and severely punish organizers and participants.

This comes as a political party led by Rev. Jun Kwang-hoon of Sarang Jeil Church announced plans to hold a three-day rally from Saturday to Monday, calling for the impeachment of President Moon Jae-in.

The rallies are expected to be held in front of Seoul Station, Seoul City Hall, and the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts in central Seoul.

The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency will set up temporary checkpoints throughout the city to block the entry of vehicles and items to be used during the rallies and restrict traffic in and around the immediate vicinity when deemed necessary.
