President Moon Jae-in will host a meeting at the top office on Thursday to report on the state health insurance program that was revamped four years ago to expand coverage, also dubbed "Moon Jae-in Care."
The presidential office said that marking the anniversary, Moon will talk about how health insurance served as the backbone to the healthcare system even during the pandemic, and will also introduce government efforts to build a society where people don not have to worry about hospital bills.
Moon's deputy spokesperson Lim Se-eun said the president will also commit to further expanding health coverage.
A closed-door presentation will follow Moon's remarks in which the head of the National Health Insurance Service, Kim Yong-ik, will give a briefing on achievements made so far.
Health Minister Kwon Deok-cheol will then present future plans on expanding coverage in areas of high-cost surgeries and more support for low income families and infants struggling with serious illnesses.
