Women only filled some ten percent of managerial posts related to science and technology research and development in 2019.

According to a report released by the Korea Institute of S&T Evaluation and Planning on Monday, women accounted for some 26 percent of new recruits in science and technology personnel as of 2019.

But the report found that the percentage of women who held positions charged with research projects stood at less than 12 percent, and those who held managerial posts reached only ten-point-six percent.

In contrast, men accounted for some 88 percent of positions charged with research projects and more than 89 percent of managerial posts.

The report found that women accounted for 16 percent of managerial positions at universities and some eleven percent of such posts in public research agencies. Women took up only eight-point-seven percent of managerial posts in private research facilities.
