President Moon Jae-in has ordered officials to thoroughly prepare as COVID-19 vaccine reservations for the 18 to 49 age group are set to open on Monday.
In a Facebook post made Saturday, presidential secretary for public communication Park Soo-hyun unveiled some of Moon's remarks made during closed-door meetings.
Moon reportedly stressed that problems with accessing the reservation site can't be repeated again, noting that previous inconveniences have caused public distrust.
According to Park, the president spoke about this matter a number of times last month, calling for thorough measures to ensure smooth reservations. He emphasized that if issues such as the system crashing or detour links to the site arise again, it will surely come under criticism.
Moon said Korea is a technologically advanced nation and asked the Disease Control and Prevention Agency to cooperate with other ministries regarding technical concerns.
He also suggested the idea of a designated day rule for vaccine reservations, similar to the system that was adopted for mask purchases at the beginning of the pandemic.
