South Korea's under-23 Olympic soccer team was defeated by Japan 2-0 on Saturday in a friendly held in Japan.
After a scoreless first half, midfielder Daisuke Matsui put Japan 1-0 ahead by flicking in a loose ball from close range in the 56th minute.
Japanese goalkeeper Takuto Hayashi stopped a shot from Korea's Kim Dong-jin in the 79th minute and Japanese midfielder Koji Morisaki made it 2-0 by firing in a shot from the edge of the goal area with nine minutes left.
