S. Korea Reports 602 New COVID-19 Cases on Wednesday

New COVID-19 cases surpassed 600 yet again on Tuesday.

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency(KDCA) reported 602 new infections on Wednesday from the day before, raising the country's accumulated caseload to 145-thousand-692. 

Of the new cases, 581 were local transmissions and 21 were from overseas.

By region, the greater metro area accounted for around 61 percent of the total, with Seoul adding 181 cases and Gyeonggi Province 155.  

Two more deaths have been reported, bringing the death toll to one-thousand-977. The fatality rate stands at one-point-36 percent.

The number of critically ill patients fell by three to 146.
