Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun assured the public that COVID-19 vaccines will be supplied as planned.

Chung made the remark on Thursday during a regular briefing amid signs of an unstable supply of vaccines around the world.

The prime minister noted that a shipment of 430-thousand doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine, supplied through the UN-backed global COVAX Facility initiative, is set to arrive on Saturday. He also said the nation has secured a total of 14-point-four million doses to be supplied in the second quarter.

To address concerns of an unstable supply, Chung said the government launched on Thursday a pan-government task force headed by the health minister to swiftly secure vaccines.

He then stressed that the government’s goal to have 12 million people inoculated by the end of June is sufficiently attainable.
