Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun said the government will adopt a system to issue passports or green cards to validate that a person has been vaccinated against COVID-19.

At a meeting with officials on Thursday, Chung said the government began relevant preparations early this year and has completed development of a mobile-based validation system.

While passport holders' vaccination information can be accessed in a foreign country, their personal information will not be kept.

Blockchain technology was applied to prevent forgery and the mobile application will be up and running within the month.
