President Moon Jae-in has requested a collaborative effort between the nation's police and prosecution in tracking down speculative real estate crimes.
Presiding over the seventh anti-corruption policy discussion session at the presidential office on Monday, Moon instructed the two legal enforcement agencies to share with each other their deep experiences in investigating such cases.
He stressed their cooperation so the police-led investigation into the alleged irregularities involving public officials and others would be carried out in a strong and swift manner.
He particularly called on Acting Prosecutor General Cho Nam-kwan who was present at the meeting to closely cooperate with the police even outside the scope of the prosecution's six serious crimes.
The belief that real estate speculation will not be caught and even when it is the gains will outweigh the losses exists, Moon said, which must be crushed. He called for full-fledged government efforts to produce visible outcomes in the current anti-speculation drive.
