Health authorities have increased a number of venues subject to temporary indoor eating ban across the nation amid growing concerns about a fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters on Friday, food intake will be banned on the premises of several additional facilities, including dance rooms, sports stadiums and gymnasiums, hair salons and casino, for at least two weeks from Monday.

Galleries, museums, libraries, racecourses and massage parlors are also among the places added to the indoor eating ban. They may be able to receive an exemption if they are equipped with a separate cafeteria or other eating space where quarantine measures are in place.

So far, only eight types of facilities are subject to bans outside the greater Seoul metropolitan area, including fitness centers, singing rooms, saunas and religious facilities. Seoul and its nearby cities, where the lion's share of new infections were reported in recent months, have also placed eating restrictions on cinemas, concert halls, PC rooms and hagwons.
