A shipment of 250-thousand doses of the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Pfizer and BioNtech will arrive in the nation on Wednesday.

According to the government’s vaccine task force on Tuesday, the shipment is part of some 13 million doses that the government secured via a contract with Pfizer.

These doses will be transferred to 46 vaccination sites across the nation, which will then begin inoculating elderly citizens aged 75 or older from next Thursday. Some three-point-six million seniors in that age bracket are estimated to be residing in communities nationwide.

The government is set to receive a total of three-and-a-half million Pfizer vaccines through the second quarter. Another shipment of 250-thousand doses is set to arrive next week.
