South Korea to Begin Vaccination of People over 65 at Nursing Homes Tuesday

Starting Tuesday, South Korea will begin vaccinating inpatients and employees aged over 65 at nursing homes and hospitals with AstraZeneca's COVID-19 vaccine. 
 
The 68-year-old President Moon Jae-in will also receive the vaccine on Tuesday in preparation for his participation in a G7 summit to be held in Britain in June. 
 
In the second quarter, South Korea will launch, in earnest, the inoculation of people and employees at facilities for the elderly and disabled, and people aged over 65. 
 
According to the COVID-19 vaccination task force on Sunday, more than 376-thousand inpatients and employees aged over 65 at nursing homes, mental institutions and rehabilitation facilities across the nation will take their first AstraZeneca shot in phases from Tuesday. 
 
Vaccine recipients are expected to take their second shot from the first week of June. 
 
Vaccination for people and employees at facilities for the elderly and disabled, patients with tuberculosis or Hansen's disease and homeless people will begin next month.
 
The nation will also inoculate school nurses, police officials, firefighters, soldiers and flight attendants in the second quarter.
