South Korean health authorities have reported the first case of blood clots confirmed in a patient who died after receiving the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.

Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency(KDCA) Commissioner Jeong Eun-kyeong disclosed the information before the National Assembly’s Health and Welfare Committee on Wednesday.

She said the agency will study the autopsy results of the patient in question, adding that they still do not have the official results just yet.

The deceased is reportedly a woman in her 60s who was a patient at a long-term care hospital.

Jeong’s comments came after the KDCA initially put off any confirmation about the case.
