The government has vowed to present measures to stop real estate speculation and reform the scandal-ridden land developer Korea Land and Housing Corporation, or LH, by the end of this month.

Finance Minister Hong Nam-ki said in a meeting of ministers related to real estate policies on Wednesday that the government is currently reviewing the measures.

He said the government will come up with an end-to-end method that will prevent land speculation, uncover such instances, and then dole out punishment and confiscate illegal earnings.

The government will also review the state-run LH’s function, organizational structure, manpower and ethics to produce a "strong and rational" innovation plan.

However, Hong promised to pursue the government's housing supply policy without fail, reaffirming its plan to provide 243-thousand units through its third new town project.
