Daily COVID-19 Cases Rebound to Mid-400s as Third Wave Continues

Daily COVID-19 cases have rebounded to the mid-400s as clusters involving small gatherings, saunas and workplaces cropped up throughout the nation. 

​The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency(KDCA) said that 469 cases were confirmed in the 24 hours to 12 a.m. Wednesday, bringing the country's total caseload to 96-thousand-849.

Of the 452 domestic infections, over 70 percent were from the capital area, including 120 from Seoul, 182 from Gyeonggi Province and 21 from Incheon. 

As the third wave of the epidemic continues unabated for the fifth consecutive month, daily cases have fluctuated between the 300s and 400s over the past week. 

Eight more deaths were reported, raising the death toll to one-thousand-686, with the fatality rate standing at one-point-74 percent.
