A portion of the country was coated in what is being called the worst yellow dust conditions in ten years.

From Tuesday morning, the greater Seoul area and inland regions of Gangwon and North Gyeongsang provinces saw the worst levels of yellow dust, which blew in from the Gobi Desert and Inner Mongolian region.

As of 10 a.m., fine dust levels on the five islands west of Korea including Baeknyung and Ganghwa all recorded dense concentrations of the harmful dust.

The Korea Meteorological Administration said while it is expected to taper off by tomorrow, the yellow dust could persist depending on the atmospheric conditions around the peninsula.
