Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun cast concerns over recent signs of a COVID-19 resurgence, vowing to mobilize all available means toward preventing a fourth wave of the epidemic.
Chung made the remark at a meeting with officials on Tuesday, while referring to the average daily new cases in the past week standing at 428, up by more than 50 from the previous week.
To meet the government's goal of bringing down daily new cases to the 200s by the end of next week, the prime minister said his office, as well as other ministries will do their part in on-site quarantine.
During Tuesday's meeting, Chung is expected to finalize measures to reinforce quarantine in the Seoul metropolitan area with the heads of municipalities and city districts in attendance.
Addressing growing concerns over symptoms following vaccinations, Chung ordered officials to look into systemizing mandatory post-vaccination vacations in order for people to feel safe about getting immunized.
