A senior official of Korea Land and Housing Corporation(LH) has died in an apparent suicide amid growing public uproar over allegations of land investment irregularities by workers at the state-run company and other public officials.
The 56-year-old official, who had formerly served as the head of the company’s North Jeolla Province headquarters, was found lying and bleeding in a flower garden at an apartment complex in Bundang, Gyeonggi Province, on Friday morning.
The person was taken to Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, and was pronounced dead there.
It was known that the official left a note in which the person acknowledged committing an “unadvisable thing” while working as the head of the LH North Jeolla headquarters chief. The deceased also reportedly had wrote he or she was in agony and was sorry to the public for it.
Police strongly presume it is a suicide case but will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of the death.
