President Moon Jae-in said Friday that the results of a preliminary investigation into the land speculation scandal involving employees of the Korea Land and Housing Corporation(LH) are just the beginning.
According to spokesperson Kang Min-seok, Moon said during a meeting at the top office that what has been revealed so far may be just the tip of the iceberg and that the full extent of the speculative activity must come to light.
He ordered a thorough investigation into real estate transactions using borrowed names that include family members of LH employees and other public officials.
President Moon said the case must be investigated fully until the public finds it acceptable.
He also called for swift measures to retrieve illegitimate profits gained through speculation, adding that the government must face public anger. Additionally, it should take this opportunity to root out real estate-related irregularities and establish fairness and justice.
