The South Korean government has created a program for those who must travel abroad for essential public service to receive COVID-19 vaccines before leaving.

Senior health official Yoon Tae-ho disclosed the process in a briefing on Wednesday.

It will be available for people who are set to leave the country to carry out duties related to national interest. This includes people going on business trips or those assigned to serve in public positions abroad.

People who are scheduled to go abroad for a short period of time to pursue important economic activities will also be eligible to receive the vaccines before departing.

Those interested in the program can apply for approval with the related government agencies starting next Wednesday.
