Foreign direct investment(FDI) in Seoul posted a record high last year, although it fell eleven percent for the nation as a whole. 

The city government said on Wednesday that FDI in Seoul totaled ten-point-two billion dollars last year, up 100 million dollars from the previous year. 

The figure has increased for four consecutive years from 2017. 

However, FDI in South Korea fell to 20-point-74 billion dollars, of which the capital city accounted for 49 percent in 2020. 

In Seoul, investment in the finance and insurance sector increased 132 percent, while investment from the Americas rose 99 percent and investment in new industries gained 40 percent.
