Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun has reiterated a zero tolerance policy towards any unlawful act uncovered while investigating allegations that employees at the state-run Korea Land and Housing Corporation(LH) engaged in land speculation.
Chung shared the stance on Wednesday while chairing a meeting on the current land speculation scandal, saying the government seriously regards the situation.
The prime minister said the entire legal process surrounding the LH case must be carried out without a glitch.
In particular, Chung said it is key for the police and the prosecution to closely communicate, citing that the police are in charge of investigating while the prosecution handles warrants and indictments.
The prime minister said the people are demanding that authorities swiftly get to the bottom of the latest allegations and make those responsible pay for their wrongdoings. He said it is the government’s duty to uphold such a demand by the people.
