The Justice Ministry on Monday announced a reshuffle of lower-ranking senior prosecutors.
The reshuffle involving 18 deputy chiefs and department chiefs did not touch many of the chief investigators in high-profile cases, including the controversial closure of an aging nuclear reactor and alleged violation in a travel ban issuance against former Vice Minister Kim Hak-ui.
Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-youl earlier called on the ministry to retain their jobs for the stability of the organization and continuity of investigations.
Prosecutors who have had conflict with Lee Sung-yoon, the head of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office labeled by his critics as “pro-government,” also kept their jobs.
The reshuffle also saw the promotion of several prosecutors with expertise on human rights in line with the ongoing prosecution reform drive.
The ministry also decided to create a task force on prosecution reform and assigned two prosecutors to it.
