Oldest Former Sex Slave Dies, 15 Survivors Left

The oldest surviving South Korean victim of Japan's wartime sexual slavery has died at age 98.

The House of Sharing, a facility in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province that supports surviving victims announced that Jeong Bok-soo passed away at around 9:20 a.m. on Friday.

A private family funeral will be held, with details undisclosed to the public.

Jeong had been staying at the House of Sharing since 2013. She was known to be the oldest surviving victim.

With her death, the number of registered South Korean victims still alive is down to 15.
