S. Korea Adds 504 New COVID-19 Cases

South Korea reported 504 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, topping the 500 threshold for the first time in fifteen days.

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency(KDCA) said on Thursday that the new cases added throughout the 24-hour period of Wednesday raised the country's accumulated caseload to 82-thousand-434.  

Among the new cases reported, 467 were local transmissions and 37 were imported.

Of the local transmissions, 383 cases came from the greater Seoul area taking up around 82 percent of the cases across the country, with around 177 in Seoul, 181 in Gyeonggi Province, and 25 in Incheon.

Ten more deaths were reported, raising the death toll to one-thousand-496, with the fatality rate at one-point-81 percent.

The number of critically ill COVID-19 patients dropped by 14 to 170.
