Seoul City has decided not to extend operations of public transportation during the Lunar New Year holiday in effort to curb trips and control any possible spike in COVID-19 infections.

The city government announced the decision, asking citizens to refrain from trips during the holiday.

The city used to extend operations of subway trains and intra-city buses and increase buses that have stops at city-run cemeteries during the Chuseok and Lunar New Year holidays.

The city, however, decided not to take the steps for the upcoming holiday, keeping the operation of public transportation at regular holiday hours.

The government will enforce special antiviral measures during the holiday, disinfecting facilities at bus terminals more than three times a day.
