Local gas prices have risen for the eleventh straight week, but the rate of increase has eased.

According to Opinet, an oil price information website run by the Korea National Oil Corporation, the average price of regular gasoline nationwide gained one-point-five won to reach one-thousand-452 won per liter in the first week of February.

The weekly increase has slowed, with the price previously rising as much as 31-point-seven won.

The price of diesel also rose one-point-five won this week to over one-thousand-252 won per liter.

Global oil prices, which remained steady last week, are also up again.

The cost of Dubai crude, which South Korea mainly imports, rose by a dollar 80 cents per barrel this week to 56 dollars 90 cents.

The National Oil Corporation said the upward trend was fueled by a number of factors, including the passage of a U.S. budget bill for pandemic relief and OPEC retaining its recommendation on reduced crude oil output.
