S. Korea Adds 393 New COVID-19 Cases

South Korea reported 393 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, the second consecutive day the daily tally has been in the 300s.

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) said Saturday the new cases raise the country's accumulated caseload to 80-thousand-524.

Daily infections have been in the 300 and 400 range for the past week or so without a clear decline in the ongoing third wave of the outbreak.

Of the 366 local transmissions reported Friday, the majority continues to come from the greater metro area, with 142 in Seoul, 108 in Gyeonggi Province and 24 in Incheon.

Meanwhile the number of critically ill COVID-19 patients stands at 197.  

Five more deaths have been confirmed, raising the death toll to one-thousand-464, with the fatality rate at one-point-82 percent.
