The daily COVID-19 tally has dropped back to the 300s after two days in the 400 range, but it was enough to push the accumulated caseload pass the 80-thousand-mark.

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency(KDCA) said that as of 12:00 a.m. Friday, 370 additional people have tested positive, raising the country's overall total to 80-thousand-131.

It has been one year and 16 days since the country's first infection was detected last January 20.

Of the cases detected throughout Thursday, 351 were local transmissions, while 19 were imported.

Nearly 260 local cases came from the greater metro area, including 122 in Seoul, 110 in Gyeonggi Province and 25 in Incheon.

The death toll rose by eleven to one-thousand-459 with the average fatality rate at one-point-82 percent.
